ABOUT

Welcome to the far-away north east of Tasmania renowned for its white powder-soft sand and orange lichen-covered granite rocks. St Helens is a quaint fishing village set on the beautiful Georges Bay with the Bay of Fires beaches stretching to the north and St Helens Point, home of the giant Peron Dunes and Beer Barrel Beach flanking the bay to the south.

Beach House at St Helens is like walking into your very own beach house. Lots of personal touches by the owners, every amenity and games, art, music, videos and a fire to make you feel right at home! Perched on the gum-covered ridge above the bay you’ll enjoy stunning water views and dramatic skyscapes and sunsets. The land stretches down to the bayside beach with no other houses to impede your view or sense of escape. Birdlife is abundant in the native garden and the pelicans oblige with regular fly pasts. Kookaburras are likely to greet you on arrival and blue wrens abound.

AMENITIES

The house is furnished with an eclectic blend of furniture collected over 40 years of living in Tasmania. Paintings and woodcuts from the owners' private collection along with Pacific Island and African basketwear rub shoulders with retro furnishings which have been jealously guarded by the beach house since it was built in the 1950's.

Polished boards, louvred windows and expansive decks at the front and rear of the house add to the beach house feel. The only shells you'll find are real ones from nearby beaches - no 'seaside kitsch' from the local bric-a-brac shop! The spacious sunroom doubles as a dining area with seating for 6 around the locally-made macrocarpa table. The daybed in the corner is the perfect reading and napping spot. A desk, bookcase, and BOSE sound system, eclectic cd collection and drawer full of games and puzzles complete the holiday mood.

The living room is open-plan with the kitchen and has comfortable leather sofas in front of the open log fire. Sliding doors lead onto the deck facing the bay view.

The well equipped kitchen includes an oven, microwave and fridge and has a colourful array of serving bowls, quality glassware, crockery and cutlery. Perch on the counter stools for breakfast or curl up in the leather sofas and watch a movie - the owners run a film festival so the DVD rack is buckling under the weight of titles.

In the dining room there is a CD player with a selection of tunes on offer. Get down and boogie or listen to some gentle African beats over a long lunch enjoying the view over the bay.

The bathroom has a shower, basin, flush toilet and heated towel rail and there is a separate laundry with washing machine.

Both the front and rear decks have tables, chairs, deck chairs, sun umbrellas and a gas BBQ. A hammock, garden seats, African style "braai" pit and established lawns extend the outdoor living options.

The home comfortably sleeps 5 in two bedrooms with all linen provided. The carpeted queen bedroom looks out through the sunroom to the bay views and has a corner wardrobe and dressing table. The second bedroom has both a double and single bed and built-in wardrobe. Both bedrooms have quality linen, electric heaters, blinds, curtains and bedside lamps bright enough to read by.

You will find yoga mats, yoga blocks, beach bats and tennis balls and racquets in the large basket beside the master bedroom. Beach towels are in the basket nearby. In the shed you will find a surfboard, boogie boards, wetsuits, beach chairs, a beach umbrella (Sombrella) and fishing lines.

The house has off street parking for two cars and the front garden is fenced and dog secure.
